I've got to be better next week

I have not been finding the time and/or the energy to deal with the intense heat, but I have been playing around...

For time...

21-15-9 reps of

pull-ups
L ring-dips
2x push-ups

Yes, that's L ring-dips. I was going to do L pull-ups and rembered as soon as I made it to the ring dips. It's a little hard holding the L-all the way down, but I found it to be a good excersise.

I've forced myself to subscribe this philosophy:

There is no next week. There is yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Yesterday you were good. You were not good enough.

Today you will be stronger, go harder, dig deeper and be better than you were yesterday.

Tomorrow, today will no longer be good enough.

I keep telling myself this in hopes that I'll learn to live it and I'll stop allowing myself to fail. Having a procrastinator's nature, this is the only way I've found to pull myself out of a slump, training or otherwise.

Short term focus for long term gain. I'm sure that I'm missing something here with regards to advanced periodization of training, but I don't really think that I'm yet to a level of training that requires more than constant dedication and focus on the here and now.

Everyone's motivated by different things. How do you guys break the doldrums?
